Our History

Scuola dei Bambini di Sta. Teresita, an International Montessori school, first opened its doors in June 2001. Its name, which is an Italian phrase, means school of little children of St. Therese. The name was originally coined by a family friend, who happens to be a man of God, Fr. Jerry Oblepias. It was patterned after the very first school opened by Dr. Maria Montessori in Italy-Casa dei Bambini. St. Therese was chosen as the school’s patron saint due to the personal devotion of the Directress.

The school received its International Montessori Accreditation from Montessori Institute of America (MIA) in Kent, Washington for ages 2 – 1/2 to 6 in June 2002 and ages 2 – ½ to 9 in August 2005. The Directress, Dr. Albina Gutierrez received the recognition as International Montessori Directress for ages 2 – ½ to 6 in April 2002 and ages 6 – 9 in May 2009.

The school received its Philippine Government Recognition for the Preschool level on August 31, 2004 followed by the Recognition for the Elementary level in March 5, 2010. After six (6) years, the school received its Recognition for Secondary Level on March 29, 2016. With the opening of the Junior High School Department, three years later, the school received its PEAC Certification in January 4, 2017, accepting the high school students as ESC grantees. Scuola dei Bambini’s strong desire to extend educational service to different types of learners, the school opened its doors to learners with special needs and started the special education class. On July 22, 2019, the school received its Recognition as a Special Education center. As years went by, the demand of education to allow students from JHS to continue to the next higher level brought the institution to work on its Senior High School Level in the year 2019. In June 19, 2019, the school received its government permit to offer the strands of TechVoc and ABM. On October 22, 2020, the school received its permit to offer STEM, HUMSS and GAS.

As years go on, Bambini has grown exponentially composed of students from Preschool (Casa), Special education Department to Adolescent Montessori Department (Junior and Senior High School).

This school, Scuola dei Bambini di Sta. Teresita is a dream come true for our Directress, Ms. Albina Gutierrez, for she has dreamed for the longest time to have a school that would provide a good academic and social foundation for the children of San Pablo City.

The very first Summer Enrichment Class was held in May 2001 with only 11 walk-in students. These 11 students were the very first batch to undergo and experience Bambini training. They were taught the basics of reading, writing, math, and arts in preparation for the coming school year. From 11 students, it became 50 summer graduates in Summer 2009. The enrichment program includes Basic, Advance, Reading and Comprehension, Speech and Personality, Development, Arts, Ballet, Hawaiian, Voice, Guitar and Swimming.

From a population of 20 students in June 2001, the population has grown fast as it ventured in offering elementary and secondary education to the children.
